a blast from the past....

It's after quite some time that I return to Dream Country. This time round, the dream that brought me here is more of those routine kinda dreams, with known characters and situations (for a change...), but nevertheless, still very much intriguing, as all of my dreams tend to be.This begins in a very familiar setting - my home. I am sitting at my PC, working, when I get bored and decide to listen to some music. I start Winamp and the very first song to pour into my ears is "Unchained Melody", an all-time favourite of mine. As the song hits a particularly intense note, I feel my eyes unknowingly moistening and throat choking a bit. For a moment, I think of stopping the song and getting back to work, lest I get too carried away. Something stops me and I listen on, only to get more and more engulfed by the unknown force of the song. I put the song on Repeat mode and when it is playing for the nth time, I feel somebody calling out to me. The voice seems strangely familiar yet so unknown and I turn around to see who it is. Strangely, I find no one around and return back to the music. After some time, I again hear that voice and this time, I recognise it very clearly. It's that of my first crush. I don't bother to turn around, telling myself that I am hallucinating, when I feel a hand on my shoulder. Almost jumping in my chair, I turn around to see her, smiling beatifically. She is wearing a simple green dress, the one which I used to like a lot. "Kasa aahes (How are you?)",she asks, her tone never indicating the fact that we are meeting after ages.Staring at her like a fool, "I am fine", is all I manage to stammer. She smiles, takes a seat next to me and asks what I was doing. When I tell her that I was just listening to music, she shuts down the PC and starts talking to me about the years gone in between. I gradually overcome my initial uneasiness and after some time, we are chatting away like we had never been away from each other. Laughter and animated conversation permeates the otherwise drab room. She then offers to make me some coffee, at which, I tell her not to trouble herself and whip up a cuppa espresso for both of us. She's sipping on coffee, looking out the window, when she suddenly asks me, whether I want to see some of her pics. When I say that I do want to, she says that we will have to go to her house. Not wanting to let go of this chance, I get ready in a flash. To my surprise, I find that she is staying next door to me. The house is smallish, but richly done with soft colours used everywhere. She asks me to sit on the sofa and gets her laptop. As she is showing me her pics, I find myself falling for her all over again, even as I keep telling myself not to do so. Time flies by like a bird in the faraway sky and before I know, it's time to leave. I don't want to leave her place, and a look at her tells me she doesn't want me to leave, either. As I look into her eyes, I get totally weak-kneed. Before we realise what's happening, she holds my hands and pulls me to her. Our lips entwine and time seems to just freeze into this one moment. Suddenly we hear a loud sound and I find myself pulled out of the trance and wide awake, staring at the bright sun filtering through my window.

P.S: Normally, I tend to analyse my dreams a lot. This one, I don't think I have the courage to analyse. It will be injurious to my mental health... :P

the creator and the creation...

Well...this has to be one of the strangest of my dreams so far.And that's not so because it contains too many fantastic scenarios and situations, but because I am unable to figure out anything from it. Usually, though people are shocked or puzzled by my dreams, I am able to find atleast some amount of sense after some introspection. Not this one though, the harder I have thought about it, the more have I landed in a web of confusion, which is why I decided to post it here, so that I get it out of my system and can give some objective thought to it at a later stage. So, here is how it goes...
It all begins in a small shack near a pond at the base of what seems to be a bit oddly formed mountain with its peak bathed in blood red and then the intermediate portion covered with layers and layers of snow before coming down to the base which is covered with lush greenery. In the dream, I see myself as a self-absorbed painter who apparently has made the shack his home for a long time and spends his time in painting, sitting outside the shack under a tree which is half burnt and half green with the blossoms of the spring. The scene I happen to see is where I am depicting the mountains on canvas. What is especially puzzling that though the painting contains a lot of colours, I am using just one brush and it seems to produce the required hue the moment I think of it. When the painting gets completed after what seems like many days, it is an almost a picture-perfect reproduction of the actual scenery. I feel proud of myself on putting together such a good piece of art. So, I put my signature in the corner of the painting. The moment I do that, the painting burst out in flames. In throes of panic, I try to put out the flames with my bare hands, not caring for the fire. But when my hand enters the fire, I find that the flames are ice-cold. Scared, I withdraw myself and helplessly watch the flames consume the painting. After that, I create many paintings, though all meet the same fate . It's almost as if the creation seeks to deny the creator, rather preferring self-destruction.
As and when I happen to make some sense of this one, I will be back with more.Till then, keep peering into the shadows...

the girl on the beach...

It all begins in a hut near the top of a mountain. I am sitting outside the hut and looking at the base of the mountain. There I can see a large beach on one side and a deep valley on another. I am in two minds as to where I should be going when I notice a pair of binoculars lying nearby and decide to use it. Peering through the binoculars, I notice a female form on the beach and nothing significant around the valley. So I opt for the beach. When I come down to the base of the mountain i am confronted with a thick forest which was apparently not present there when I had looked from above. Nevertheless, I decide to cross it - only to find that it is full of thorny trees and bushes. Undettered, I go on. The thorns tear my clothes to rags and I am profusely bleeding, but I still move on towards the beach, pulled by some unknown power.
When I cross the forest after what seems like an eternity, I reach the beach. There I don't see any female but I do notice a rundown shack. I enter the shack to find it neatly and cleanly arranged with a bed and a small bedside table. I sit on the bed and get a feeling of deja vu. Looking around,I notice that the drawer of the table is slightly ajar. I open it to find an envelope inside. When I open the envelope, I find a photo of mine with a human form - the human form has been cut out of the picture. I put the photo back. When I am doing so,I notice that there is a blank photoframe lying around. I check it to find that there is actually a photo hidden inside it. It's of a very plain-looking girl whom I have never met before (in real life or in my dreams). I carry that photo with me and come out of the shack.
Wherever I can see, I find just the sea. Now I am really desperate to find the girl in the photo. So I decide to walk in one direction, hoping that I would mange to find the female that I saw from the top of the mountain. After walking for quite some time, I happen to see a female walking some distance ahead of me. I run to her and holding her hand, turn her towards me. I am horrified to notice that she is faceless, except for her lips - no eyes, no ears, nothing except the lips. She smiles at me and says "you should not have come here". I ask her who she is and what she means by that. She says nothing and just draws closer to me. As I notice her scent strike my olfactory senses, I feel waves of intense craving & lust engulf my entire being. I pull her towards myself and kiss her hard. She has got absolutely luscious lips and I get totally carried away. My hands start exploring her body and though she does not seem to be responding, I am too carried away to notice. After a while, she starts responding and we proceed to make love for what seems like eternities. At the end of it all, i am too exhausted but it feels like heaven. Then, as we are sitting close to each other, listening to the waves of the sea, I happen to look at her and see that she is no more a faceless entity. She has developed a face which is the same as the girl in the photo I saw in the shack. She smiles at me as I look at her nude form and again says those very words "you should not have come here". I get angry and try to pull her towards myself when a huge wave rises and falls on me. I nearly get carried away into the sea but manage to hold on.Starngely though, she remains unaffected by the impact of the wave. She again pleads with me to go away but I refuse to do so.After some time, again a wave strikes. This time, i get pulled into the ocean. As i am being carried away underwater, i look at her - she is still smiling that same beatific smile when my vision darkens (signifying my death) and then I wake up - all drenched with sweat, gasping for breath.

the child outside the door....

The scenario seen in the dream is somewhere about 4-5 years in the future; wherein I am living on the top floor of a multi-storey building with huge glass walls through which I can catch the sights and sounds of the city flowing below. (Something like Aamir Khan’s Sydney residence in Dil Chahta Hai; only with all walls of glass). One night, past midnight, I am watching the city skyline, trying to gather some sleep, albeit unsuccessfully, when suddenly there is a knock on the door. I am under the influence of incomplete sleep and ignore the sound. After what seems like ages, the knocking starts again. This time, it has an almost hypnotic rhythm to it. I am terrified but something pulls me towards the door. On opening the door, I find nobody outside. This scares me even more. I close the door, come inside and am about to settle my chair when the rhythm starts again. This time, I am terrified beyond reason and almost run towards the door in a fit of blind fury. Again, there’s no one outside but this time I find a straw basket lying outside my door, covered with a dirty little piece of rag. On removing the rag, I find a newborn baby inside the basket – blood on its body and the umbilical cord ominously dangling. Its face is contorted as if it were crying but no sound can be heard. Beside the baby is placed a piece of paper and a cell-phone. I pick up the phone and dial the number written on the paper. At first, nobody responds. I try again, when a deep baritone echoes at the other end. I explain the situation to him and ask what the hell is going on. All he says is “You don’t always get what you want; sometimes you have to be happy with what you get”. Saying so, he disconnects the line. Further attempts from my side to get in touch with him prove futile. I am left with the baby, whom I then pick up in my arms. As soon as I pick it up, it touches my face and lets out the most blood-curdling scream I ever heard (in a dream or otherwise). Surprisingly, instead of being terrified by the turn of events, tears start flowing from eyes and I start sobbing. This is where the dream ends, leaving me wide awake and drenched with sweat, no matter in what season this occurs and even if I am sleeping right under the fan.
